In a very short time, young Austin Outhaythip has created several high quality videos about his local area, paying special attention to the Asian American community. He has earned a significant following online and hopes interest in his work will continue to grow.

Sabaidee! I’m 21 years old and I started the Inside Oregon blog. This means I do the filming, video editing and managing of the page all by myself. I was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. My parents lived in Vientiane, Laos before immigrating to the United States. I currently live in Eugene, Oregon for the purpose of pursuing my Bachelor’s degree in Business at the University of Oregon. Many people assumed that I started Inside Oregon as a class project, but that was not the case. I started Inside Oregon mainly to get better at making videos and build myself a video portfolio. I feature people, places and events in the state of Oregon to showcase my filmmaking versatility. I hope this portfolio can be a resume to help me find work that involves making videos.

I started working on Inside Oregon in late February of 2017. After only a couple months of posting weekly videos on Facebook, I gained almost 1,000 followers. This would not have been possible without people sharing my videos, and I am very thankful for each and every one of them. It’s awesome knowing that people appreciate my work, since making videos takes a lot of time. The videos I make are about one minute long, but they take about 5-10 hours to make, which includes everything from planning, filming and editing.

Time has been a major challenging factor. I’m a full time college student and school is my main priority, which leaves me little time for Inside Oregon. However, limited time isn’t going to stop me from doing what I enjoy in life. With that being said, be on the look out for more of my videos on Facebook.com/insideoregon. I plan on showcasing even more amazing people, places and events in the state of Oregon through short videos.
